Biography

Prof. Ahmet Altuncu received his BSc degree in Electronics Engineering from the Uludağ University of Turkey in 1988. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Electronic Systems Engineering Department of Essex University in U.K. in 1998, with his thesis on “Distributed erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (DEDFAs) for use in the long haul and high bit rate soliton transmission systems”. Prof. Ahmet Altuncu has been working as a lecturer at the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Dumlupınar University in Turkey since 1998. Currently, he is the Director of Photonics Technologies Application and Research Center. Prof. Ahmet Altuncu conducts researches on novel erbium-doped fiber amplifier designs for broadband fiber optical communication systems, wideband wavelength tunable fiber lasers and fiber optic sensor systems and gives various courses related to these topics. Prof. Ahmet Altuncu is the author of more than 50 international journal and conference papers on fiber optic based communication and sensor system applications.
