Biography

Luiz E. Oliveira, 66, completed his PhD in Physics (1981) at the Theory of Condensed Matter Group/Cavendish Laboratory of the Univ. of Cambridge in England. He performed his Post-Doctoral work (1984-1986) at the Univ. of California-Berkeley. He is a Full Professor at the Inst. of Physics of the State University of Campinas-Unicamp at São Paulo, Brazil, and works in the area of Theoretical Physics of Semiconductor Nanostructures, Nanoscience, Photonics, Plasmonics, Metamaterials, Nonlinear phenomena, etc. Prof. Oliveira has supervised doctoral and post-doctoral work of a number of scientists and has more than 200 papers in web-of-science international journals, with “h”-number = 30 and a little over 2,800 citations.
